Eight Turf Fillies Set to Clash in $200,000 Pebbles Stakes
On Monday at Belmont Park, the featured race is the $200,000 Pebbles Stakes. Restricted to three-year-old fillies, the race has been carded at one mile on the turf and has drawn a field of eight.
Partisan Politics, one of three fillies in the race for trainer Chad Brown, tops the field as the morning line favorite at 5-2 odds. A chestnut daughter of More Than Ready, she was purchased for $175,000 and has been on the board in four of her seven starts. As a juvenile, she broke her maiden against stakes competition in the P.G. Johnson Stakes and has gone winless since then. Javier Castellano will be aboard and they will break from post position two.
Light of Paris (IRE) making stateside debut
Second choice at odds of 3-1 on the morning line is another filly from Chad Brown’s barn, Light of Paris (IRE). A bay daughter of Aussie Rules, she will be competing with the medication Lasix for the first time and will be making her North American debut. She has won four of her nine starts in France and last raced in August when she won an allowance race. Junior Alvarado will be aboard and they will break from post three.
Isabella Sings in competitive form
Also in the field at morning line odds of 7-2 is Isabella Sings for trainer Todd Pletcher. Bred and owned by Siena Farm, the chestnut daughter of Eskendereya has won three of her nine starts, one of which came against stakes competition. She was last seen finishing second in the Boiling Springs Stakes (G3) at Monmouth Park. John Velazquez will be in the irons and they are scheduled to break from the inside post.
