Grade 2 $200,000 Forward Gal Loaded with Early Zip
Gulfstream Parks stakes-heavy January 24 card includes the Grade 2 $200,000 Forward Gal with a field of eleven three year-old fillies set to contest the seven furlong event on the main track.
Grade 2 Santa Ynez Stakes winner, Seduire, is the 5/2 morning line favorite for trainer Jerry Hollendorfer. Seduire, who will make her first start outside California, has four wins in seven attempts for earnings of $262,200. The filly had won multiple minor stakes before breaking through in gate-to-wire fashion in her last start to claim her first graded victory. Seduire has raced as far as seven furlongs just once in her career resulting in a fifth place finish in the Grade 1 Del Mar Derby on Polytrack. Jockey Joel Rosario will have the mount aboard the speedy filly breaking from post five.
Enchantress has work cut out
Enchantress (3/1) will break just outside the favorite for trainer Todd Pletcher. The lightly-raced daughter of Malibu Moon has won two of three career starts, with the lone blemish coming in the Grade 3 Tempted Stakes where she finished a well-beaten fifth in her only start around two-turns. Enchantress’ two wins came at the six furlong distance in gate-to-wire fashion. The filly does not figure to be as quick from the gate as Seduire and must avoid chasing that rival in the early stages.
Maiden cannot be overlooked
Skipalute (8/1) has the right running style in a race loaded with early speed. The Eddie Kenneally trainee is still a maiden with four seconds in five starts, but has placed in two graded stakes events. Jockey Javier Castellano should have Skipalute rolling late.
