Sheriffa Aiming for Second Stakes Win in $125,000 New York Stallion Series Stakes
On Saturday at Aqueduct, the featured race is the $125,000 New York Stallion Series Stakes. The seven furlong contest is open to New York-bred fillies and mares and has drawn a field of nine.
Sheriffa tops the field as the morning line favorite at odds of 5-2 for trainer Linda Rice. A four-year-old daughter of Posse, she has been on the board in thirteen of her seventeen starts and is a five time career winner. She earned her first stakes win two starts back at Belmont Park and is trying to rebound after a seventh place finish in an optional claiming race. Cornelio Velasquez will be aboard and they will break from post position six.
Saythreehailmary's trying for first stakes victory
Second choice at morning line odds of 3-1 is Saythreehailmary’s for trainer John Morrison. A dark bay daughter of Repent, the four-year-old filly has been on the board in twelve of her nine starts and will be trying to earn her fifth career victory and first stakes win. She has been off the board in her last four starts and will try to return to form with Javier Castellano in the irons from post position seven.
Vicki's Dancer looking for first win of the year
Also in the field at morning line odds of 7-2 is Vicki’s Dancer for trainer Rudy Rodriguez. A six-year-old daughter of Disco Rico, the veteran mare is a six time winner and a multiple stakes winner. She has yet to find the winner’s circle from nine outings this year and is trying to move forward after a third-place finish against optional claiming company. Joel Rosario will be aboard from post position five.
