Sunday Rules Headlines Competitive Edition of $75,000 Kalookan Queen Stakes
On Wednesday at Santa Anita, the featured race is the $75,000 Kalookan Queen Stakes. Carded at six and a half furlongs, the stakes race has drawn a field of eight fillies and mares.
Sunday Rules headlines the field as the morning line favorite at odds of 9-5 for trainer Philip D’Amato. A four-year-old daughter of Tribal Rule bred and owned by Nick Alexander, the California-bred filly has won six of her seven starts and is a multiple stakes winner. After suffering her first defeat with a third-place finish in the Great Lady M Stakes (G2), she came back to win an optional claiming race last time out. Mike Smith will be aboard and they will break from post position five.
Tara's Tango trying to rebound off freshening
Second choice at morning line odds of 5-2 is Tara’s Tango for trainer Jerry Hollendorfer. A homebred for Stonestreet Stables, the three-year-old daughter of Unbridled’s Song has won two of her six starts and will be trying to earn her first black type victory. She has been on the shelf since finishing tenth in the Cotillion Stakes (G1) in September and has been training steadily. Martin Garcia will be aboard and they will break from post two.
Consistent Kiss at Midnight a contender from the rail
Also in the field at morning line odds of 4-1 is Kiss at Midnight for trainer Richard Baltas. A three-year-old filly by Decarchy, she was purchased for $27,000 as a yearling and has been on the board in all ten starts. She will be trying to earn the fifth victory and second stakes win of her career and was last seen finishing second in an optional claiming race at Del Mar. Rafael Bejarano will be aboard and they will break from the rail.
