Unbeaten Fillies Battle it Out in $75,000 Any Limit Stakes
The $75,000 Any Limit Stakes March 14 at Gulfstream for three year old fillies includes a field of seven set to go six furlongs on the dirt.
The undefeated Perchance is the 2/1 morning line favorite for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin after dispatching maiden special weight foes at Aqueduct and an allowance field at Gulfstream in succession to begin her promising career. The daughter of Distorted Humor has not raced since January 22, and will break from post seven under jockey John Velazquez. McLaughlin excels with runners returning from layoffs of 31-60 days.
Dogwood Trail should be more fit
Second choice, Dogwood Trail (5/2) is also unbeaten in two starts, and won her last February 8 at Gulfstream nearly nine months after notching her maiden victory. The Stanley Gold trainee should have gained valuable fitness from that race and will be more formidable as she steps up in class. Jockey Edgard Zayas has the mount breaking from post three.
Taylor S. gets class relief
The speedy Taylor S. (3/1) draws the rail and could be dangerous as she gets some class relief after facing graded stakes foes in the Forward Gal January 24. The Dale Romans trainee managed to finish third in that race despite racing close to a hotly contested pace at seven furlongs. The cut-back in distance should be to her liking, and jockey Corey Lanerie will likely try to outbreak the competition from the gate. Taylor S. has finished off the board just once in five starts while recording a pair of wins.
